Exploring the Psoas

Exploring the PsoasFriday, February 23, with Tama Soble
12:30pm-3:00pm, $50

The psoas muscle is powerful and intelligent.  It lies deep in the torso connecting spine, pelvis and legs.  Understanding how to release, stretch and strengthen the psoas can help us to integrate and stabilize the entire physical body and free the respiratory system.  We will explore postures and breathing practices to deepen our awareness and understanding of the role of the psoas.

Like a Rolling Ball

rolling bearFriday, March 9, with Monica Voss and Tama Soble
1:00pm-3:00pm, $40
This workshop will take place at Eight Branches, 358 Dupont St. with a maximum of 12 participants.

Rolling along and across the spine releases tension, develops awareness, facilitates greater mobility within the poses that we know, and increases our ability to access poses previously thought to be beyond our reach. Take time rolling about and experience the childlike pleasure of moving from the spine.

Friday Intensives

Introducing Pranayama

Friday, April 27, with Monica Voss
12:30pm-3:00pm, $50

We will practise several traditional and non-traditional breathing exercises (pranayama). Then we’ll assess and deconstruct them and discuss how and when to introduce pranayama to beginners most effectively.

Freeing the Voice

Gerry TrenthamFriday, May 11, with Gerry Trentham
12:30pm-2:30pm, $40

The voice is in good health when it is flexible, dynamic, present and precise. Gerry’s enjoyable non-threatening approach introduces a practice that frees the voice, uniting it with the physical body.  This work highlights the individual’s distinctive and authentic voice and aligns the body in the process. With practice, participants discover a new power in their physical and vocal presence, and new ability to move and speak with confidence.
