Yoga and the Vagus Nerve

This class series aims to help us honour our autonomic nervous system for the miracle it is in keeping us safe and alive, recognize when it is stuck in a conditioned response that is not serving us well, and be able to change that response to something better.  Through an understanding of Polyvagal Theory we can identify yoga practices, many of which we already know, and learn how to take them off the mat to apply them when we need them the most.  The series will combine relevant physiological explanation, the correlation of the Three Gunas as discussed in the Sankhya Karika, an ancient yogic text, and experiential practice.
