Workshops for Teachers

Our Workshops for Yoga Teachers delve into specific topics to enhance your teaching skills and personal practice. Each unique workshop is designed to expand your knowledge through yoga practice, meditation, reflection and discussion.  Topics include functional anatomy, hands on assisting, pre and post natal, philosophy, anxiety and sanskrit. Many workshops are eligible for CEUs.

Developing and Sustaining a Personal Practice

Practising yoga at home can be a refuge and a way of reconnecting to ourselves. In this workshop we will explore sequences of yoga postures, the rationale behind them and our personal responses to them. We will discuss the challenges and the joys of our time alone with yoga. Teachers and interested students of yoga are welcome to attend.

Increase your knowledge of pregnancy, labour and delivery. Build your confidence teaching pregnant women at any stage, and within any class structure. Learn to support women’s recovery post-partum. This training includes lecture, discussion and practice covering anatomy, pregnancy / labour / birth / post-partum issues, and teaching skills including assessing goals, how to adapt poses and breathing exercises, using language appropriately and helpfully, and hands-on assisting. Introduction to the Yamas and Niyamas

In this workshop, we will review the Yamas and Niyamas as they are outlined in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and then reflect on them using various translations, including a commentary from a women’s, heart-centred perspective. We will discuss how the Yamas and Niyamas continue to be vibrant and engaging in our current times, and how they apply to our teaching and our lives.

The psoas muscle is powerful and intelligent.  It lies deep in the torso connecting spine, pelvis and legs.  Understanding how to release, stretch and strengthen the psoas can help us to integrate and stabilize the entire physical body and free the respiratory system.  We will explore postures and breathing practices to deepen our awareness and understanding of the role of the psoas.

Yoga for Anxiety and Depression
